Today I want to talk to you about the Network Marketing profession.  Yes, it is a profession and I am very proud to be a part of it.  Unfortunately, many Network Marketers try to work their business incognito because secretly they don’t really believe in what they are doing or they are almost embarrassed about it.

If you are in the Network Marketing profession and are struggling with self- doubt, my hope is that I can help you overcome these feelings.

First of all, in order to be successful in our industry, it is very important that you recognize it as an opportunity not only for you, but for anyone.  But “Why Network Marketing?”   You have to be able to answer this question for yourself before you can respond to the criticism that you may encounter from others you are talking to about your business; not just people that you are potentially introducing to your business but people that you socialize with.  It is important to be armed with knowledge so that you can walk with pride.  You should feel that you have an insight in business that your family, friends and peers do not have.

So let me give you some information that will answer questions from your family/friends and the naysayers.

Many people will ask “if your product is so good, then why is it being sold through Network Marketing?”

What a lot of people don’t know is that for a lot of products and services Network Marketing is the fastest and most effective way to get a product to the end consumer.  One of the biggest challenges that businesses face today is to develop a relationship with the end consumer.  It is much more difficult than it used to be.  I remember when I was young there were only about 4 television channels and only one newspaper in my town.   So if a company was trying to get its message out to people, it wasn’t very complicated.

Today, however, we see advertising on the sides of busses, billboards, at gas stations, in restaurants on their menus, on your cell phone through text messages, all over the internet including in emails, through direct mail and even in restrooms.  There are hundreds of different television channels and millions of websites that companies can advertise on.  The diversification of media is amazing right now.  Yet, at the same time, we as consumers tune out because we are getting bombarded by all of it.

Therefore, advertising is becoming more and more expensive and less and less effective.  With Network Marketing, on the other hand, companies have the ability to get direct to the consumer in a way that no other industry can.  They do this by leveraging the power of relationships.  It is the same concept that has allowed LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook to become giants very quickly.  It’s a phenomenal way of doing business. Network Marketers literally create a partnership or a customer alliance with their businesses.

Wall Street is even noticing this.  As an example Warren Buffet, who Fortune Magazine says is the most powerful man in business, doesn’t buy stock in a company when he is interested in it.  He buys the company!  Buffet has purchased a few Network Marketing/Direct Sales companies.   One of which he said is probably the best investment, dollar for dollar, that he ever made.  In addition to this, in case you didn’t know it, Donald Trump started his own Network Marketing business and even Bill Clinton endorsed Network Marketing as an important viable business model.

And this is becoming more and more “fashionable.”  You see movie stars and other celebrities endorsing products all of the time.  It’s the same thing.

Also, Network Marketing is counter cyclical.  This means that when most companies seem to be struggling, Network Marketing companies tend to be doing better.  Why is this?  It’s because what drives the growth of the Network Marketing industry is the demand for ways to create additional sources of income. In down economies the demand goes up.

Not only this, but we are becoming very much a performance based economy.  This means that during the long financial crisis that has occurred in the world over the past several years, companies have come to realize that they can pay less to employees and expect more.  In other words, they are paying for performance.   This means that people are having to work harder and smarter in they “jobs” just to remain employed.

In this new economy, Network Marketing stands out as profession that people can enter into with a very low investment, work part time as they get started and build a business with an income based on their own performance with products they believe in.

How awesome is this! Feel great about Network Marketing!  It is a very prestigious profession.
